Stone Age Dens

Stone Age Dens

During the morning, the children, using a traditional tea bag approach, aged some paper.

The main session took place in the afternoon. Minimal lighting in the hall was used to create the atmosphere of the darkness that would have been experienced thousands of years ago when there were no artificial sources of light.

The first task was to prepare a simple dwelling. With this complete lots of discussion took place about life all those thousands of years ago, including the idea that the initial hunters gradually realised that if they captured the animals rather than simply hunt them, this created a new type of living. They could now stay in one place as home. The first decorations for these, the cave paintings, were images of the hunters as they had been and the animals as they hunted them.

These people became the early farmers!
