A Warm Welcome to Dean CE VA School from the Headteacher

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Here at Dean, we pride ourselves on offering all our children the opportunity to
learn and thrive as part of our caring, Christian family.
We welcome visits to Dean School to enable you to experience our ethos for
yourself; our team work hard to get to know each and every one of our children,
so that we can support them on their individual learning journey.
Dean School places great emphasis on the balance between sound academic
achievement, and helping children become well-rounded citizens. Whilst we
continually aim for high academic standards, we also strive to offer a creative
and broad learning experience. All children have the opportunity to shine here,
whether their talents are for sport, the performing arts or becoming an
ambassador for the school.
Children settle in quickly, due to our excellent induction process, and those
pupils who join us from other schools are given lots of support to help them feel
at home. Our recent OFSTED reported how children feel ‘safe and secure in
school’; this reflects our achievement in sending children on to secondary school
as confident and positive role models.
All the information you need about Dean School and the opportunities we offer
should be found on the school website or in our prospectus, but we warmly
invite you to come and meet us. We welcome the opportunity to show new
families around our happy school, and to answer any questions you may have.
Yours sincerely
David Fasham

Our School Vision

Our aim is to create a community of learners for whom school is just the beginning of a lifetime in learning. Children and staff alike will be encouraged to care for each other, ensuring that the well being of all is paramount in making sure that all are ready to learn. All staff will lead by example as we continue to develop in our own learning. Lessons will be practical and stimulating where children will always know what good learning looks like. Our curriculum will offer many creative opportunities to develop children’s imagination and connections with the wider world, but will always be grounded in an excellent knowledge and application of the core skills of Literacy, Numeracy and Science. Children will have a strong sense of their own identity, their value to the world; RE and collective worship will provide many opportunities to develop this.

Our School Aims

At Dean School we will strive to:
  • Provide a broad, balanced and stimulating curriculum so that all children achieve their full potential.
  • Maintain the happy, caring, Christian community of our school.
  • Recognise and respond to the needs of all children.
  • Support the local community and environment through good communications and the development of positive relationships.
  • Encourage the skills and experiences of staff, parents, governors, the church and the wider community.
  • Continue to develop the school’s facilities to meet the needs of the whole child.

School Prayer (written by the children)

Dear God
Thanks you for all the wonderful pupils and staff who work here in this safe,  respectable environment.
Thank you for your friends who help us in our time of need, whether we’re down
in the dumps or worried about something.
Every day provides a new learning experience, so please help us to try our best
to succeed in learning new things.

we will face tomorrow.
